A hug is an amazing gift that heals the body and soul, that we can give ourselves, our loved ones and those around us.
A hug is a very personal form of touch.

In modern society, many people feel a great lack of touches and hugs. It is important to understand that every person has a deep physical and emotional need for touch.

Although each of us is a unique personality, in order to feel happy, we need to connect with each other in order to feel loved and satisfy our needs for intimacy.

Through touch, we connect with each other and establish connections.
Touch is the experience of how we interact with people around us and people around us interact with us. We touch the world and the world touches us. We interact with the world by establishing contact through the skin.

There is healing power in our hands, palms, fingers. Through touch, we feel loved, surrounded by care and attention. By hugging, we share love, warmth, amiability, tenderness, support, a sense of security and a need of unity with each other.
Hugging, we can share any of our feelings with other people!

So let’s hug more often! Let’s hug deep from the heart!

Hug Therapy

During the session, the therapist and client are dressed. Light clothing (e.g. short-sleeved t-shirt and shorts) are recommended to allow for more skin contact.

The session begins with a 5-10 minute introduction during which the client shares his/her wishes and needs. Next the therapist introduces the rules of the therapy. The therapist and client agree on their personal boundaries (for example, the client says he/she doesn’t like to be touched on the head, and the therapist says, for example, that she doesn’t to like to touched on her knees).

The introduction is followed by a 5-10 minute relaxation session (breathing practice, meditation or light massage) so that the client can relax and trust the therapist.
After the relaxation, the client and the therapist proceed to the session.
Each of us has his own desires and needs. A Hug Therapy session may involve more than only hugs.

Hug therapy may include:

  • Communication
  • Listening
  • Holding hands
  • Breathing practices
  • Stroking
  • Massage of desired body parts (except breasts, buttocks and genitals)
  • Different types of hugs (standing, sitting, lying down)
  • Belly to belly meditation
  • Platonic date (for example, a walk, cafe, going to the movies, etc.)
